CELJE, Slovenia – With another solid game for Duke incoming freshman Angela Salvadores, Spain advanced to the FIBA U18 European Championship Saturday with a 66-56 victory over Italy in Celje, Slovenia.
Italy opened with an 8-4 lead in the first quarter but that would be the largest lead of the contest for Italy as Spain led 14-13 at the end of the first. After Spain held a 32-28 lead at the half, Italy would take a 36-34 lead midway through the third quarter. Spain came back to hold a 43-38 advantage with 10 minutes remaining.
