On This Date: Danowski Breaks NCAA Scoring Record

DURHAM, N.C.—On this date, May 10, 2008 – Matt Danowski became the NCAA' all-time leading scorer with a two-goal, five-assist performance as the top-ranked Blue Devils beat Loyola 12-7 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

Danowski surpassed Air Force's Joe Vasta's record of 343 points with an assist on a Max Quinzani goal with five seconds remaining in the second quarter. The seven-point showing pushed Danowski's career total to 347.

The 2007 Tewaaraton Award winner finished his career with 353 points (170g, 183a) remain atop the Duke records book and rank fifth on the NCAA charts.
