The Big Ten has had a lot of advantages lately with more money than any other conference. However they have also had a particular problem with sex scandals.
First it was Penn State and Jerry Sandusky. Then it was Michigan State and Larry Nassar.
Now? It’s Ohio State, where a former professor and wrestling team doctor, Richard H. Strauss, who committed suicide in 2005, is accused of sexually assaulting many former athletes and students.
Like the other two, this has turned into a painful controversy for the university.
Certainly no one can say that these things only happen at Big Ten schools - Southern Cal has a scandal all its own too and it could happen anywhere - but it is striking that three major universities from the same conference have all had such devastating cases.
