The Opening Faceoff
- Duke earned the No. 2 overall seed in the 2024 Tournament following a runner-up finish in the ACC Championship title game. The Blue Devils are 12-5 overall with three of the losses coming to No. 1 Notre Dame (2) and No. 3 Syracuse.
- Duke and Utah are meeting for the second time in the programs' histories. The Blue Devils defeated the Utes 17-11 in Durham in Utah's inaugural season.
- The Utes are in their sixth season of lacrosse and appearing in the NCAA Tournament for the second consecutive year after beating Jacksonville, 16-13, in the Atlantic Sun Championship to earn the automatic berth.
