NCAA Proposes Major Reforms, New Structure, And Paying Athletes

NCAA President Charlie Baker is apparently ready to throw in the towel on the NCAA’s amateurism model: he’s proposing that D-I schools be allowed to move directly into NIL with athletes.

The NCAA would also create a subdivision that would essentially regulate itself. Those schools would have to put millions each year in a trust fund to pay the athletes.

Those schools would also have to provide at least $30,000 to at least half of their athletes annually but could opt to provide more as well.

Bad news for the SEC: Title IX has to be enforced so they can’t solely fund football and men’s basketball.
