Navarro Signs NLI to Join Duke in 2018-19

DURHAM, N.C. – The Duke fencing team received its first signee for the 2018-19 recruiting class as epeeist Ava Navarro signed her National Letter of Intent to compete for the Blue Devils last week.

A native of Frenchtown, N.J., Navarro is currently a senior at the George School, a boarding school in Newtown, Pa. As an epeeist, Navarro balances her time training between TigerZ Fencing Academy in Princeton, N.J., and the Fencers Club in New York, N.Y., working with Zoltan Dudas and Kornel Udvarhelyi.

A multiple Super Youth Circuit (SYC), Regional Open Circuit (ROC) and North American Cup (NAC) medalist, Navarro was also a back-to-back individual Independent Schools Fencing League (ISFL) scholastic league champion for the Masters School in Dobbs Ferry, N.
