WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – In the first contest for Duke Athletics since March, the Blue Devil women's soccer team traveled to Winston-Salem, N.C., and secured a thrilling overtime victory over Wake Forest, 4-3, as junior Marykate McGuire collected two late goals.
McGuire scored two goals over the final 8:05 of the match and secured her second multi-goal contest of her career and third game-winner, while sophomore Sophie Jones assisted on both of the final two tallies.
"It was very exciting, thrilling," said McGuire. "Playing against Wake Forest is always a battle and always a tight game.
