DURHAM - Duke guard Jared McCain has been recognized as the CBS Sports/USBWA Freshman of the Week for his performance during the Blue Devils' 78-70 victory over No. 10 Baylor in the SentinelOne Classic inside Madison Square Garden on Dec. 20.
McCain scored a game-high 21 points on 7-of-11 shooting from the field, including 3-of-6 from 3-point range, and a perfect 4-of-4 in free throws. The 6-3 guard also distributed three assists and grabbed two rebounds.
In the Blue Devils' first triumph over a top-10 team in more than two years, McCain drained a game-changing 3-pointer during a 14-1 second half run that pushed Duke's advantage to three possessions with four minutes remaining.
