DURHAM, N.C. – Former Blue Devil standouts Kerrin Maurer and Maura Schwitter were selected in the inaugural Women’s Professional Lacrosse League (WPLL) draft, as announced Wednesday evening by the league on Lax Sports Network.
Maurer was drafted by the Philadelphia Fire while Schwitter was selected by the Baltimore Brave.
One hundred total players were drafted to the WPLL’s five teams – the Brave, New England Command, New York Fight, Fire and Upstate Pride. The league’s inaugural season will kick off next summer, though several of the WPLL’s players will be in action during an exhibition weekend Sept.
