MARIBOR, Slovenia – Duke fencing volunteer assistant coach and Blue Devil alumna Leslie Marx captured gold in the Women’s Vet-50 Epee at the 2017 Veteran World Championships.
Marx claimed the title of World Champion in her first year eligible to compete at the Vet Worlds.
Marx registered a 5-1 mark in pool play to earn the sixth seed and a bye into the table of 32, where she cruised to a 10-1 victory over Arianne Moser of Sweden.
After a 10-5 win over Italy’s Diana Bonato in the table of 16, Marx guaranteed a medal with a 10-6 victory over Frauke Hohlbein of Germany.
