DURHAM, N.C. – Former Duke baseball standout James Marvel is set to make his major league debut Sunday afternoon, as the pitcher has been officially added to the Pittsburgh Pirates' MLB roster, announced by the team earlier Sunday morning.
Marvel, a starting pitcher, will toe the rubber against the St. Louis Cardinals at PNC Park, becoming the 44th Duke baseball alum to reach the big league ranks.
The right-hander enjoyed an impressive season in the minors before making the next step to the majors after his season concluded in Triple A.
