Former Duke star Luol Deng, who is now 34, has already had an epic life. He was born in Sudan, came to the United Kingdom as a refugee and found a talent for basketball that led him to the US and, eventually, Duke.
From there he went to the NBA and had a long, solid career which ended Thursday. Deng signed a one-day contract with his first team, Chicago, and retired a Bull.
Unlike a lot of professional athletes, Deng is more than ready for a post-basketball life. He has become a formidable real estate investor and has parlayed his NBA income into a vast portfolio.
