Pre-season awards don’t mean much but they do speak to expectations, so it’s not a bad thing to bring home.
So three more Blue Devils have that honor: Matthew Hurt was named to the Karl Malone Award watch list and Wendell Moore and Jalen Johnson were named to the Julius Erving Award watch list.
DJ Steward was previously named to the Jerry West Award watch list.
We obviously won’t know how the freshmen (Jalen and Steward) will do yet but Hurt is apparently vastly improved over his freshman year and Moore, after taking a bit of time to figure out the college game, really came on at the end.
