Harding, Belarus Drop Olympic Opener to Japan

RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil — In the Olympic debut for Lindsey Harding, the Duke University alumna and the Belarus squad dropped a 77-73 ledger to Japan Saturday evening at the Youth Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Harding registered 12 points, eight rebounds, five assists and one blocked shot in 29 minutes of action for Belarus.

With Japan having built a 69-65 edge with 2:58 left, Belarus trimmed it to 69-68. Japan then took a 71-68 advantage with 53 seconds remaining. Harding scored to get Belarus within one, 71-70, with 45 seconds on the clock.
