RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil — A fourth quarter rally fell short Thursday for Duke alumna Lindsey Harding and her Belarus squad as it dropped a 74-71 decision to Turkey in Group A play at the Youth Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Belarus fell to 1-3 in group action and is currently fifth in Group A. It closes group play Aug. 13 against undefeated Australia at 11:15 a.m. Belarus will need a victory to have chance to advance on to the quarterfinals.
Harding registered 17 points, four assists and two rebounds in 38 minutes.
Belarus opened the game with a 19-13 advantage at the end of the first quarter, but Turkey came back to even the ledger, 33-33, at the half.
