INDIA — Duke University women’s basketball freshman Miela Goodchild guided Australia to the bronze medal of the FIBA Under-18 Asian Championship Saturday in India with a 75-58 victory over Korea.
Goodchild, who is from Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, tallied a game-high 21 points to go along with nine rebounds to exact revenge on Korea, who knocked off Australia, 63-62, to conclude the group phase on Wednesday.
Australia opened the contest with a four point first quarter lead, 12-8, but Korea came back out outscore the Gems, 20-16, in the second quarter and the game was tied, 28-28, at halftime.
