DURHAM, N.C.— For only the third time in school history, a Duke women’s soccer student-athlete has received National Soccer Coaches Association (NSCAA) First Team All-America accolades as senior Christina Gibbons was honored with the distinction as the NCAA College Cup kicked off Friday in San Jose, Calif.
Gibbons, who hails from Raleigh, N.C., joins Kelly Walbert and Natasha Anasi as the only First Team NSCAA All-America selections in Blue Devil history. Anasi received the honor in 2011, while Walbert was named in 1993 and 1994. Gibbons, Anasi and Walbert are also the only three Duke standouts to be named to the first team as well.
