It was recently reported that former Blue Devil Derrick Lee is filing a class action lawsuit against how the football program handled concussions and head injuries while he was a player. The lawsuit was filed against Duke University, the Atlantic Coast Conference, and the NCAA.
Derrick Lee was a cornerback for Duke Football from 1998 to 2003. He is suing because he believes that the school, conference, and the league failed to implement protocols to prevent head injuries and manage concussions, which Lee is still suffering from today. The lawsuit is being filed on behalf of all Duke football players from 1953 to 2010 before the concussion protocols were required by the NCAA.
