Former Duke Soccer and Lacrosse Head Coach Roy Skinner Passes Away

DURHAM – Former Duke men's soccer and men's lacrosse head coach Roy Skinner passed away Tuesday, August 22. He was 90 years old.

Born March 16, 1933, Skinner joined the Duke Athletics department as an assistant coach with the Blue Devils' men's soccer program in 1959 and was elevated to head coach in 1966. In 11 seasons (1966-76), he guided Duke to a 71-45-5 record and the program's first NCAA Tournament appearance in 1972.

In 1967, Skinner joined Bruce Corrie on the sideline for the men's lacrosse team, serving as a co-head coach from 1967-70.
