DURHAM, N.C. – The Duke fencing team received its third signee for the 2021-22 season as foilist Catherine Flanagan signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Blue Devil family.
Flanagan comes to Durham from Pleasantville, N.Y., where she attends Briarcliff High School. She trains at the Tim Morehouse Fencing Club under Slava Grigoriev.
Most recently in 2020, Flanagan notched a third-place finish in junior women's foil at the February 2020 Junior Olympics after finishing eighth at the Junior World Cup in January. In 2019, she captured a fifth-place finish at the July Summer Nationals in the cadet division and also earned sixth at the February Junior Olympics in cadets.
