Duke’s Amendola Inducted as AOSSM President

DURHAM, N.C. – Duke University’s Dr. Annunziato Amendola will serve as the 45th president of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM), the organization recently announced.

Amendola currently serves as a sports medicine orthopaedic surgeon with the Blue Devils as well as a professor of orthopaedic surgery and Vice Chair in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery. He is involved in the sports medicine and foot and ankle fellowship programs. His clinical and research interests focus on improving the understanding, prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of sports and activity-related problems of the lower extremity.

Prior to coming to Duke, Amendola, was a Professor of Orthopedic Surgery, Director of Sports Medicine and held the Kim and John Callaghan Endowed Chair in sports medicine at the University of Iowa from 2001-2015.
