CARY, N.C. – The Duke men’s tennis team began the USTA/ITA Carolina Regional with an 11-7 record. Only singles action took place Friday at the Cary Tennis Park as the Blue Devils captured 11 main draw victories with four of their nine players advancing to the Round of 32 in the main draw.
Leading the way on Friday were sophomores Catalin Mateas and Vincent Lin, junior Nicolas Alvarez and freshman Nick Stachowiak.
Lin was the first Blue Devil to move to the main draw Round of 32 as he earned a comeback 4-6, 6-3, 6-0 win versus Andrew Schafer of South Carolina in his first match.
