Duke football backup quarterback Chris Katrenick opted out of the 2020 season because of personal reasons.

The Duke Blue Devils were dealt some uncomfortable news as backup quarterback Chris Katrenick opted out of the 2020 season citing personal circumstances, the team announced last week.

Katrenick was in a preseason quarterback battle between Chase Brice and Gunnar Holmberg, where Brice was ultimately named as the starting quarterback.

The Algonquin, Illinois native and junior quarterback had not much seen much time on the field for the Blue Devils, completing 10-of-28 passes in his Duke career for 143 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception.
