DURHAM – Ninth-ranked Maryland scored a pair of goals in the first eight minutes to hand the 12th-ranked Blue Devils a 4-0 setback to close out the ACC/Big Cup this weekend on Williams Field at Jack Katz Stadium.
Duke graduate student transfer goalkeeper Grace Brightbill made her Duke debut, starting the second half in the cage for the Blue Devils. Brightbill made four saves in the 30 minutes of action, including on a couple of rockets from penalty corners.
Maryland (2-1) came out with high pressure against the Blue Devils and capitalized early to put Duke (1-3) on its heels.
