The top-ranked Duke Blue Devils opened their 2016-’17 season with a 94-49 win over Marist Friday night. Didn’t want to bury the lede.
Because there are lots of side plots and lots of questions.
The game can be dismissed pretty quickly. Duke is pretty good. We knew that going in.
Marist was 7-25 last season on merit. They should be better this season but they simply don’t have the talent to turn a game against a team like Duke into much more than a scrimmage.
Duke jumped to a 12-0 lead about three minutes into the game and never let up.
