CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Three Duke doubles tandems remained perfect Thursday afternoon in the opening round of the USTA/ITA Regional Championships held in Chapel Hill, N.C. Each Duke doubles team is slated to resume play Friday morning at 9 a.m. in round of 16 action.
Junior Alyssa Smith and freshman Rebecca Smaller earned two victories to begin play in Chapel Hill. Smith and Smaller defeated UNC-Greensboro’s tandem of Masey Demoss and Jamie Grinberg, 8-1, in the first round of the tournament, before returning to the courts and defeating Appalachian State’s Mackenzie LaSure and Melissa Machado, 8-3.
