CARY, N.C. – Senior Andrew Zhang advanced to Sunday's round of 16 at the 2022 ITA Carolina Regional Championship at Cary Tennis Park.
Duke's doubles pairs of Michael Heller and Zhang as well as Garrett Johns and Pedro Rodenas also remain alive after winning two matches Saturday during the openings rounds of doubles play.
Zhang defeated No. 17-32 Matthew Thomson of Wake Forest 7-5, 6-2 before teaming up with Heller for consecutive wins in doubles action. The duo bested Clemson's Jorge Plans Gonzalez and Maxwell Smith 6-4, 6-2 to kick off their doubles tournament.
