DURHAM, N.C. -- Strong play highlighted day one of the Kitty Harrison Invitational for the Duke women’s tennis team, as the Blue Devils combined to go 5-0 in singles action and 4-2 in doubles at the Sheffield Indoor Tennis Center in Durham, N.C.
Duke opened the invitational by facing two Texas duos and a VCU pair in doubles play. The Duke tandem of sophomore Samantha Harris and freshman Kaitlyn McCarthy defeated Neda Korpcina and Lana Groenvynck of Texas, 8-2, while junior Alyssa Smith and sophomore Rebecca Smaller defeated VCU’s Anna Rasmussen and Sofia Segerfors, 8-5.
