DURHAM – Duke redshirt senior defensive tackle DeWayne Carter has been selected to the preseason watch list for the Bronko Nagurski Trophy, an honor presented to the top defensive player in the country by the Charlotte Touchdown Club.
Carter returns for his third consecutive season as Duke's starting defensive tackle. The three-time team captain has compiled 86 tackles, 21.5 tackles for loss, 11.0 sacks, seven caused fumbles, three fumble recoveries, 11 quarterback pressures and seven pass break ups in 39 career games.
The Pinkerington, Ohio, native has recorded two or more tackles in 19 career games, including a career-high nine tackles against Georgia Tech in 2022.
