DURHAM – Duke's DeWayne Carter was selected a finalist for the 2022 Arthur Ashe Jr. Male Sports Scholar of the Year, the Diverse: Issues in Higher Education magazine announced.
The team captain and Third Team All-ACC selection, started all 12 games last season on the gridiron, registering 37 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, four forced fumbles, three pass breakups and six quarterback pressures. His caused fumbles ranked first in the ACC and tied for 11th in the nation. The Pickerington, Ohio, native earned three-plus tackles in eight contests, including a career-high six against Virginia Tech in 2021.
