DURHAM, N.C.— Duke University sophomore Virginia Elena Carta is set to compete in the LPGA Marathon Classic in Sylvania, Ohio, from July 14-17 at the Highland Meadows Golf Club. Carta received the exemption into the event, after claiming the NCAA Individual Championship in May.
A product of Udine, Italy, Carta will tee it up with four other former Duke golfers as Jean Bartholomew, Laetitia Beck, Lindy Duncan and Brittany Lang will also compete this week. Lang is coming off claiming the U.S. Women’s Open Championship Sunday in California. Carta will be seeing action in the first LPGA event of her career.
