DURHAM, N.C. – Following the NCAA Championship in Arkansas, Duke University senior Virginia Elena Carta will participate in the 2019 ShopRite LPGA Classic, which will take place June 3-9 at Seaview in Galloway, N.J.
Carta, who will graduate from Duke Sunday, May 12 with a degree in environmental sciences and policy, has yet to decide when she will officially turn professional.
The 2016 NCAA Individual Champion and U.S. Women’s Amateur runner-up, Carta has competed in 38 career tournaments and 111 rounds as a Blue Devil over the last four years. She helped lead Duke to the ACC Championship in 2017 and 2018 along with 13 overall team victories.
