Jeff Capel was introduced as the new Pittsburgh basketball coach today. His new A.D., Heather Lyke, droned on for a while before letting Capel come to the podium.
In his introductory comments, he did the standard things everyone does: he thanked everyone at Pitt, thanked everyone at Duke and especially Coach K. He talked about giving 100% of himself and how he would help mold the young men who played for him. He talked about how impressed he was with the city and university.
Then he went a bit off track.
He talked in an appealingly personal way about how excited his wife was about the prospects for them at Pitt.
