ATLANTA, Ga. – After finishing strong in Monday's stroke play to earn the No. 1 seed in match play at the 2019 East Lake Cup, the Duke women's golf team dropped its semifinal match Tuesday, 3-2, to fourth-seeded Auburn at the East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, Ga.
The Blue Devils will conclude action Wednesday in the consolation match against second-seeded Arizona, who fell, 3-1-1, to third-seeded Wake Forest.
"Well, we aren't playing to win this thing, so that's unfortunate," said Duke head coach Dan Brooks. "I think they fought hard. It seemed like everybody was, as far as I could tell, everybody was fighting hard, that's all you can do.
