STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – The Duke men’s and women’s fencing team opened the 2018 campaign at the Penn State Duals Sunday at the Mary B. White Building on Penn State’s campus as the men finished 3-2 on the day while the women posted a 2-3 record.
The Blue Devil men picked up wins against Haverford (25-2), UPenn (16-11) and Yale (21-6) and fell to Penn State (13-14) and Columbia (8-19). On the women’s side, Duke topped Haverford (25-2) and UPenn (15-12) and were defeated by Penn State (11-16), Columbia (9-18) and Yale (12-15).
“For the first time, both the men and women defeated UPenn,” head coach Alex Beguinet said.
