PORTLAND, Maine – Former Duke standout and All-ACC third baseman Jordan Betts was assigned to Class AA Portland Monday, April 18. Betts belted a bases-clearing in his Portland Sea Dogs debut Monday evening against the Trenton Thunder.
In five games with Class A Salem this season, Betts was hitting .348 (8-for-23) with four doubles, a home run, six RBI and four runs.
The Boston Red Sox took Betts in the 18th round (No. 554) of the 2014 MLB Draft. Betts became the first Blue Devil third baseman chosen since Jeff Becker was selected in the 20th round of the 1998 MLB Draft by the Milwaukee Brewers.
