DURHAM – Duke freshman Paolo Banchero has been named ACC Freshman of the Week after helping lead the Blue Devils to three wins in the season's opening week.
Banchero averaged 19.3 points on .667 field goal shooting to go with 8.7 rebounds over the three games. In his collegiate debut against No. 10 Kentucky in the State Farm Champions Classic on Tuesday, he went 7-of-11 from the floor and 8-of-9 from the free throw line for 22 points, seven boards and two steals. The Seattle, Wash., native followed up with back-to-back 18-point outings in the Duke Veterans Day Weekend Showcase, while leading Duke in rebounds in both contests.
