Duke’s freshmen are getting tons of attention and understandably so, but the way Duke has managed the one-and-done stuff is by having what Coach K calls system guys - in other words, guys who won’t leave after their freshman year.
One of this year’s is Alex O’ Connell.
He had a nice freshman year and showed some real flashes. His biggest two problems were inexperience (getting better) and his very thin frame (time and training will help).
As Jacob Taylor points out here though, he brings one key asset to this year’s team and that’s his outstanding three point shooting.
