We've seen this many times in college basketball: a coach has a team of scrappy, undersized but not very talented kids. He turns them into whirling dervishes defensively and fast breaks his way into basketball lore.
Think Kevin Mackey. Think early Shaka Smart. Think Rick Pitino at Providence and most of all Kentucky.
But don't think Danny Manning. That's not what he's doing.
What Manning is doing at Wake Forest is probably a bit slower, both on the court and in terms of how fast the Deacs start to win again.
