Duke fans with a better memory than us may recall that Penny Hardaway had a long-ago beef with Coach K. Our first thought was that it was the Olympics but that doesn’t make sense because Hardaway retired from the NBA in 2007 and he had been declining for some time since a knee injury in the 1997-98 season.
Maybe it was the 1992 Select Team?
Whatever it was, we have a clear memory of Hardaway being irritated and feeling like Coach K had in some way kept him off a team or limited his options. He was not happy about it.
