Leslie was Duke's first scholarship volleyball player and one of the first five female student-athletes to receive an athletic scholarship. She served as a team captain and was a key figure for the 1976 squad that reached the AIAW Nationals. She was also a violinist in the Duke Symphony Orchestra.
