DURHAM, N.C. – In today’s 1 on 1 with Coach K, head coach Mike Krzyzewski talks about the rich history of Duke basketball, and how former head coach Vic Bubas’ teams laid the foundation for the success of today’s Duke squads, especially the 1966 program.
The 1966 Blue Devils, led by Bubas and captained by Steve Vacendak, capped a successful season by earning an ACC Tournament title and placing third in the NCAA Tournament. Duke registered a conference-best 12-2 mark against ACC opponents to clinch the regular-season title and amassed an overall record of 26-4 during the year, the sixth-straight 20-win season under Bubas.
