MACOMB, Ill. – Redshirt senior midfielder Vanessa Kavan notched her first goal of the season to give the Drake University women's soccer team a 1-0 win over Western Illinois on Friday night in Macomb.
Sophomore midfielder Libby Helverson delivered a pass in the box to Kavan, who beat the keeper with a shot that ricocheted off the post in the lower right corner and into the back of the net in the 59th minute.
"This is a hard place to get a result, so we are thrilled to have earned a shutout road win," said Drake head coach Lindsey Horner.
