DES MOINES, Iowa – Two late goals pushed the Drake University women's soccer team past Western Illinois, 2-0, Wednesday, Sept. 14 evening at the Cownie Soccer Complex.
Drake (7-0-1) had goals from freshman Shelley Lyjak (Bartlett, Ill.) and sophomore Tawny Carroll (Streamwood, Ill.). The Bulldogs finished with their seventh shutout of the season and have allowed just one goal.
Lyjak's goal came first in the 72 minute (72:05) as she corralled a high cross from junior Kasey Hurt (Ankeny, Iowa) deep in the box and blasted it in far post for her first career goal.
