DES MOINES, Iowa – The Drake women's basketball team knocked off Southern Illinois, 75-59, Sunday, Jan. 8 night in Missouri Valley Conference play at the Knapp Center.
Drake (11-4, 4-0 MVC) shot 30-of-59 from the floor, including 9-of-14 in the third quarter. The Bulldogs held just a three-point lead of 38-35 at halftime, but limited Southern Illinois (7-8, 1-3 MVC) to just seven points in the quarter to seize control of the game and help win their fifth-straight game.
Senior Lizzy Wendell (Blue Springs, Mo.) scored a game-high 24 points on 9-of-18 shooting and added three assists and two steals.
