CARBONDALE, Ill. – Led by 16 kills from Cathryn Cheek (Coppell, Texas), the Drake University team earned a convincing 3-0 win at SIU Saturday evening to conclude its most recent Missouri Valley Conference road series.
Drake (16-7, 5-4 MVC) prevailed by set scores of 25-14, 25-23, 25-19 in the quick three-set victory. Cheek's 16 kills came on 40 attempts and the Bulldogs hit .234 as a team in large part due to Paige Aspinwall's (Dayton, Minn.) 35 assists. Cheek and Aspinwall also added nine digs each while Kylee Macke (Ankeny, Iowa) led the defense with 18 digs.
