DES MOINES, Iowa – Drake softball punctuated their 2024 regular season with a dramatic come-from-behind win over Belmont. The Bulldogs' victory marked their second in-a-row and gave Drake the series win.
Belmont seized control early and seemed to be in prime position to maintain it. The Bruins scored first in the opening frame as Emily Cockrill brought lead-off batter Nicole Hughes home on a sacrifice fly. The visiting Bruins then used their own production, plus a handful of Drake errors, to bust things open in the second. Belmont plated four runs in the second stanza to grow their lead to 5-0 while Drake was still looking for its first baserunner.
