DES MOINES, Iowa -- The Drake University Softball Team defeated Valparaiso in its double header on Saturday April 23. Prior to the game, the parents of late catcher Gabbie Jonas threw an honorary first pitch. Alumni of the softball program were recognized on the field prior to the first pitch.

In the bottom of the first, was the first to the plate and recorded a 1-1 count. On the third pitch thrown her way, she drilled a ball into right field for her ninth homerun of the year and tied the game 1-1.
