Box Score 1 NORMAL, Ill. – The Drake University softball team swept Illinois State Saturday in a Missouri Valley Conference doubleheader at Marian Kneer Stadium. Drake (34-9, 17-0 MVC) won by scores of 8-0 and 8-3 over Illinois State (18-26, 9-8 MVC) and increased its program-record winning streak to 20 with the two victories.
In the opening contest, pitcher Nicole Newman (Madison, Wis.) continued her dominance in the circle. Newman allowed just one hit that came in the second inning to start the frame, and it was the only Illinois State baserunner in the game.
