DES MOINES, Iowa – The Drake University softball team split the first two games of a three-game series to Missouri State on Saturday at Buel Field. The Bulldogs took game one 6-1 as the Bears managed to win the nightcap 2-0.
Sophomore Nicole Newman pitched a gem for Drake to start the day as she threw a complete game two-hitter and tallied 11 strikeouts.
The Bulldogs got on the board first in third-inning, taking a 2-0 lead. Kennedy Frank blasted a solo homer off the scoreboard in right center to put Drake up 1-0.
